Pioneer Mk2.4

Power, Performance and Speed at your Command

Pioneer Mk2.4 – Transport & Tourism The Pioneer Mk 2.4 is a unique, custom-built, high-performance hovercraft engineered specifically for the transport and tourism sectors. Operated by a single crew member, it comfortably carries up to 23 passengers or a payload of up to 2.5 tonnes. Passengers travel in luxurious coach-style seating within a fully air-conditioned cabin, enjoying uninterrupted panoramic views of the surrounding scenery as it swiftly passes by. Designed to be both robust and versatile, the Pioneer Mk 2.4 delivers dynamic performance while remaining economical to operate and visually impressive to passengers, operators, and onlookers alike. Power is efficiently supplied by twin diesel engines, enabling a comfortable cruising speed of 30+ knots, with higher speeds achievable depending on surface and weather conditions. The hull is constructed from advanced composite materials, producing a lightweight yet exceptionally strong and durable structure that requires minimal maintenance. Forward windows are laminated safety glass, while side glazing is high-grade acrylic for strength and weight efficiency. The craft features a fully pressurised bag skirt of welded construction with easily replaceable rubber fingers, ensuring durability and straightforward servicing. Twin fixed-pitch propellers provide responsive handling, strong thrust, and precise manoeuvrability. For enhanced operational reliability, the dual-engine configuration is supported by duplicated critical systems, including transmission, electrical, and hydraulic components, providing built-in redundancy. Construction complies with internationally recognised standards including the 2000 HSC Code, BHSR, Australian USL Class 1D, and Transport Canada TP5579, with class certification available under any of these codes.
Pioneer Mk2.4 – Security Services The Pioneer Mk2.4 can also be fitted with state of the art electronics and ballistic protection making her ideal for security applications such as waterway and border patrol, coast guard and other military applications and search and rescue. Options Include; *Custom Military Grade Paint *Adjustable/removable seating *Galley *Fresh hot and cold water systems *Refrigeration *Marine Toilet *Alternative sources of electric power *Extensive storage The design of the Pioneer Mk2.4 utilises modern technologies of design and equipment to achieve exceptional performance while retaining a simplistic approach to construction and maintainability. High powered twin engine/twin reversible thrust propellers provide redundancy, performance and unsurpassed maneuverability uncommonly found in hovercraft of this class. Twin propellers provide control and redundancies which are not possible to achieve with a single propeller. All of the AirLift Hovercraft designs utilise fully pressurised bag and finger skirts which are truly amphibious.
